The usual answer when I ask someone why they don't wear any safety gear is that they like the comfort afforded to them with what they have on. Well I can tell you from experience that this isn't this case, if anything I'd say my Kevlar motorcycle jeans are more comfortable than the Levis I wear when doing the shopping.
Not only is this protective clothing comfortable but it can keep you pretty cool too, even in reasonably hot weather.
